CK Reid owns Double R Rodeo Company, established in 1941 by great uncle and aunt, Roland and Mary Jo Reid, inductees.
CK began his trick roping career at 15. Named Champion Youth Trick Roper at Will Roger’s 100th anniversary, he and trained Bull, Homer performed throughout the US for the PRCA. He performed at national events, on television and for President Carter. He went on to Southwest Texas State University’s National Intercollegiate Rodeo team winning the national championship. CK competed in the PRCA Finals from 1986-1992.
CK runs Double R Rodeo Company, continuing 80+ years as the oldest continuously running rodeo company in the southwest. For 29 years Double R has stock produced Stockyards Championship Rodeo – the world’s only year around weekly rodeo. CK produces Billy Bob’s Texas Bull Riding Show every Friday and Saturday. Overall, more than 3,000+ performances in the Stockyards.
In 2018 Double R Rodeo Company’s PRCA/Pro Rodeo Company – Stockyards Pro Rodeo – was established, sending round winning bulls Soy El Fuego and Silver Lining to 2020 NFR. Additional NFR winning Double R raised bulls are J Lazy, Freddy Fender, King Herod and Crowd Pleaser. NFR 2021 and 2022 selected several bulls with a round win from Party Animal. Soy El Fuego was 2022 Texas Circuit Finals Bull of the Year. SPR has provided PRCA stock at Fort Worth, San Antonio, San Angelo, Denver, Houston, Nampa, Lovington, Gladewater, Waxahachie with 20+ PRCA Rodeos in Cowtown Coliseum. CK raises livestock with wife Ashlee and their children, Carter, Harris and Sheridan, in Grandview, Texas.
