Bob Blandford

Robert was born to Arline and Bob Blandford on November 27, 1950. He grew up with two brothers and two sisters in a ranching and rodeo family, outside of San Antonio. His cowboy skills were evident in the pasture and in the rodeo arena. He accomplished many goals at the high school and college levels, at both ends of the arena.

In 1973, he joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). That year and also in 1974, he was awarded the prestigious Bill Linderman Award for his outstanding performances in the roping, as well as the rough stock riding events.

Robert qualified for the PRCA-NFR in 1974 and 1980 in calf roping and 1976 in the bull riding. At the PRCA Houston Livestock Show Rodeo, he won the All-Around in 1980. Many times the All-Around title in the PRCA Texas circuit has been awarded to him as he competed in bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, and steer roping.

Robert and Kay Blandford have been married since 1992. They are both highly respected by their peers and their fans. Kay still actively competes on the futurity and professional level, and they continue to train horses, and help nurture competitors, all from their south Texas ranch, appropriately named, “The Llave.”
