Wanda Bush

Women Contestant

She grew up riding horses on the family ranch in Mason, Texas. Wanda was a charter member of the GRA (Girls Rodeo Association) now the W.P.R.A., (Women’s Professional Rodeo Association. She also has served on the Board of Directors of the GRA – WPRA for over 20 years.

Wanda Bush has many qualifications and some are:

  • Won 32 World Championships in barrel racing, calf and ribbon roping as well as cutting All Around titles from 1951-1972
  • World Champion Barrel Racer in 1952, 1953, 1958, 1962 and 1963
  • Qualified for her last National Finals Rodeo in 1974
  • Member of the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame
  • Cocoa Cola Woman of the Year
  • PWRA Pioneer Woman of the Year for her life long dedication to rodeo
  • Texas A&M Industry Leader Recognition Award
  • Honored in the 2001 Cowboy Hall of Fame and Heritage Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

After the 1974 NFR, Wanda turned her attention more toward training ad clinics. She has done so much to help rodeo and the people in it.
