Mary Walker

Mary Walker, a WPRA Professional Barrel Racer was born in Dallas, Tx on January 26, 1959. Mary entered her professional career in 1983. The same year, she married Byron Walker who has been by her side ever since. Together, Mary and Byron became one of the few couples to have both won world titles and are in the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. Aside from their rodeo wins, their biggest honor was raising their son, Reagon Walker, who was born in 1989.

Mary began her successful career at an early age and continued to be one of the longest running careers in the WPRA until her retirement on December 7, 2023. Mary surpassed the million-dollar earning mark in 2016 and accomplished many of her dreams including the 2012 WPRA World Champion Barrel Racer. In addition, her other achievements comprise of; 2012 NFR Top Gun Winner, 2013 WPRA Reserve World Champion, 5x NFR Qualifications, and 6 Go-Round Wins. Her big wins include, Cheyenne Frontier Days, Ellensburg, WA., Nampa, ID., and many more. Some of her special awards are, being inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, awarded the Tad Lucas Award from the Cowboy Hall of Fame, and winning the Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Award in 2012.

Although she takes pride in her many achievements, she gives Latte much of the credit. Latte and Mary were a special team with an undeniable bond. Their titles as a team are endless but because of Latteā€™s greatness, he earned AQHA Barrel Horse of The Year in 2012.

Mary is extremely excited to be joining the Texas Cowboy Rodeo Hall of Fame with her family members which include Reagon Walker, Byron Walker, and Whitey Bob Walker.
