Monk’s rodeo career includes three trips to the National Finals Rodeo in 1982, 1983, and 1984. He also holds a Champion Bareback title at El Paso and a Reserve Championship Bareback title at both Houston and San Antonio. In 1984 and 1986, he won the Texas Circuit Finals Bareback title.

Before he joined the PRCA, He was a 3-time Texas State High School Reserve Champion Bareback rider. Monk’s most personal achievement is his 2-time World Championship Bareback title at the National High School Rodeo Finals.

However, his greatest achievement has been carrying on his family’s winning tradition in the sport of rodeo through his son, Zach, and daughter, Zane. Monk and his wife, Kay, are longtime residents of Beaumont, Texas.
