Belton Ladies

Johnny Boren Award

Wanie Ellis, Charlene Proctor Mewhinney, Rita Williams Moon, Pat Wallace

Named in honor of Johnny Boren, the founder and first president of the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame (TRCFOF). This recognition is given to an individual or in this case a group of individuals who deserve to be inducted into the TRCHOF due to significant contributions to building and improving the TRCHOF.

Lovingly known as “The Belton Ladies”, Wanie Ellis, Charlene Proctor Mewhinney, Rita Williams Moon and Pat Wallace have tirelessly served on the Board of Directors of the TRCHOF for almost 20 years. That is 80 years collectively of unpaid volunteer service. They continued to faithfully attend Board meetings, contribute to improving the Hall and work as gracious hostesses during the annual RODEO REUNION & INDUCTION.

This service has brought stability and continuity to the Hall particularly during the move from Belton to the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.

The TRCHOF would not be what is today without the hard work and dedication of “The Belton Ladies”.
