Mitch Terrell was born in December of 1960 in Frisco, TX and as a young boy, raised in Anson, Texas and continued to call it home. From an early age Mitch had a dream and a plan of raising some of the top bucking stock in the rodeo industry. In 1982, along with his brother Mark, they began to put his plan into action and the T-N-T Rodeo Company was formed. As with any new stock contractor, they are given advice time and time again. Mitch and Mark would thank people for their advice but quickly reminded them that they were going to do it their way, the T-N-T way. Their trademark breeding program began to get noticed very early on with their bucking bull herd, and those “mean spotted bulls” became a face of T-N-T.
Through the years, Terrell’s rodeo journey would lead him and his award-winning stock all over the country. Many cowboys and cowgirls today can remember Mitch Terrell being involved in every level of their rodeo career. All the way from Junior Rodeos, College Rodeos, UPRA Rodeos, PBR events, and PRCA Rodeos, Mitch Terrell played a pivotal role in the rodeo community. Not only by providing stock, but Mitch took time to train and advise young contract personnel like pickup men, bull fighters, announcers and clowns. In the later years, joined by his sons Trevor and Tyler, the T-N-T branched out into an exceptional bucking horse breeding program. The same attention to detail in the bucking bull industry bled over to raise some of the industry’s top bucking horses.
Providing stock, was just one piece of the brand of T-N-T. Mitch Terrell led and advised many rodeo committees on the importance of quality production and a fast-paced show. His fan base grew from town to town as his show rolled through the country. One of the T-N-T’s most recognizable features was the loud thumping of AC/DC’s “T-N-T” before each performance, a tradition that is still a constant today. The T-N-T Rodeo company has produced historic rodeos for many years like the Post Stampede Rodeo, the Jim Bowie Days, and the Historic Texas Cowboy Reunion. T-N-T was named the TCRA Stock Contractor of the Year multiple times and has also provided stock the UPRA Finals.
The T-N-T Brand has been applied to some of the greatest bucking stock of this generation like PBR Finals Bulls Straight Jacket and Bottom Up, and horses like Uncle Buck and NFR Bucking Horse Cancun Moon.
But, beyond rodeo, Mitch Terrell was known for his deep Faith in God, which led in many of his decisions, and assisted him in council with fellow cowboys and cowgirls. His quick wit was familiar to committee men and contestant alike, and his love for the sport was undeniable. Mitch was especially excited to share his love of this sport with his growing family of two grandsons: Wren and Levi Terrell.
The values, ethics, and determination for producing award winning stock and rodeos live on today at every T-N-T Rodeo performance.
