PRCA Gold Card member Skipper Driver directed the PRCA Big Spring Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo for thirty years, was Secretary-Treasurer for ten years, and President for six. As Howard College’s rodeo coach, he took his team to the NIRA Finals four times. He was inducted into the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Hall of Fame in 2013.
A calf roper, team roper, and steer wrestler, Skipper led by example. While on the Texas Tech rodeo team, he qualified for the NIRA Finals twice and was named Southwest Region Champion calf roper in 1965.
He served two years as president of the Texas Tech Rodeo Association and won the Dub Parks Memorial Award twice. Skipper placed at Cheyenne, Denver, San Angelo, Big Spring, Coleman, and Dallas.
