Rick Bradley

Men Contestant

Born August 3, 1954 to Billy Joe and Florence “Griffith” Bradley.

Life-long resident of Burkburnett, Texas.

Graduated from Burkburnett High School in 1972.

I started entering rodeos in the steer wrestling category during high school at the age of 16. Donnie Bowles of Devol, OK let me tag along with him. At this time I won all high school rodeos that I entered. I earned my PRCA card at age 17. At the age of 18 while still in high school I won the Greely, Colorado rodeo.

I took a year off when I was offered a scholarship to play football at Texas Tech. At the end of the second semester, I transferred to Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas on a rodeo scholarship. During this time, I won nearly every college rodeo that I entered and made the college finals every year. In 1976, I made my first National Finals Rodeo and at the age of 22 I became the youngest World Champion Steer Wrestler in OKC. I also made the finals the following 3 years, but did not clinch the Championship.

After college, I continued to Rodeo winning smaller venues such as Pecos, San Angelo, Dodge City, Vernon, Wichita Falls and placed second in the Houston Rodeo. I made the Texas Circuit Finals 10 times over the course of my career.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree and taught physical education and science at Burkburnett Junior High where I attended school as a kid.

I am still living in Burkburnett, TX and I am a self-employed Spray Foam Applicator with my own company for over 15 years now. My family includes my mother (Florence), wife (Mindy), and sons (Chris, Zack, and Austin).

Some of the Influential people in my career- Donnie Bowles, CR Boucher, Jim Houston, Clyde Vanvoris, and Walt Garrison.
