Bob was born into the horse and cattle business near Lovington, New Mexico. He attended Sul Ross University and was on the Rodeo Team for two years, winning events in bull riding and saddle bronc. He was selected by Eastern NM University to be on their team and won the Regional Championship. He qualified four times for the CNFR.
Bob graduated from NMSU, received a Master’s Degree from Texas Tech University, and has a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. As owner of The Equine Hospital in Canyon, Texas, he was lead surgeon for a practice focusing on racehorses, performance and rodeo horses. He owned World Champion Racing Stallion Six Fortunes, winner of $600,000. Bob consulted for several horse and cattle operations in a nine-state area and Mexico for 20 years. He consulted for three Lloyds of London syndicates and assisted in the handling of major Thoroughbred racehorses.
From 1989 to 2006, Bob was General Manager of Singleton Ranches, the largest cattle ranching operation in the US with more than 1,100,000 acres in California and New Mexico. He is married to Debra Shaw, who was National High School Champion in 3 events and is an All-Around and Collegiate Champion. They currently reside outside of Weatherford, TX.
