Eugene Weakley, Burkburnett, Texas, was a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) steer wrestling contestant from 1963-1988 and is a PRCA Gold Card holder. While competing from 1964-1986, he also worked as a pickup man for Beutler & Son Rodeo Company. During the 1980’s Eugene produced the Boomtown Rodeo and the World’s Largest Steer Wrestling Jackpot in Burkburnett, Texas. In 1980, Eugene and a group of friends conceived the idea for the first Texas Ranch Roundup which continues as an annual charity event in Wichita Falls, Texas and has served as a model for ranch roundup events across the state.
