David Elms was born in Killeen, Texas in 1941. He started rodeoing at the age of 15 and won his first bull riding at 18 in Gatesville, Texas.
The popular and talented cowboy won the Rock Springs Rodeo a record five times in the bull riding. He won or placed at countless rodeos all over the state of Texas and across the U.S.
Elms was a member of the PRCA, SRA, IPRA and CRA. David retired from rodeo in 1983. David’s younger brothers Chick Elms and Monte Elms are also 1996 inductees into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame.
