Olympic Gold Medalist Darrell Lambert won nine AJRA World Championships (1974-1979), the World’s Largest Junior Rodeo in Idabel, Oklahoma (1977), the Roy Cooper Jr. Calf Roping and Open Rehab Roping in Stamford (1978), and the Southwest Regional Collegiate Calf Roping Championship (1979). Darrell qualified for the Texas Circuit Finals in 1983, 1984, 1987 and 1988, won calf roping at the Houston Rodeo, and qualified for the NFR in 1987. He won second in the average and was ranked third in the world standings. Darrell was on the 1988 USA Winter Olympic Team and won gold. Later that year, he won the Calgary Stampede. After retiring, Darrell served on the West Texas Jr. Rodeo Association board. He still competes in World Series team roping events.
