9-time PRCA Announcer of the Year, Bob’s rich baritone voice is unmistakable. Step inside a rodeo arena, hear the voice, and without glancing at the announcer’s stand, you know who it belongs to. His warm personable approach to calling a rodeo has brought the action to millions of people across the U.S. and Canada.
The Nevada native now lives in Poolville, Texas with wife Kristen. They are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year and Bob gives full credit to Kristen, “I could not have accomplished what I have without Kristen’s support”.
Born in La Canada, California, Kristen attended college at the University of Nevada, Reno where she met Bob and married in 1969. When Bob was first hired as an announcer, Kristen went to work for RSC Rodeo Company and worked as a secretary/timer for 10 years. She was the first woman to attend a PRCA judging seminar and judged numerous college rodeos. Kristen was selected to judge the Miss Rodeo America pageant two times.
Bob and Kristen moved to Texas in 1996 and continue ranching. Their daughter, son-in-law and twin grandkids live on the ranch with them where Kristen gets to enjoy watching their grandson team rope and granddaughter play volleyball. “My biggest accomplishments in life are my daughter Nicole, my twin grandkids Canyon and Cashly, and managing to stay married to Bob long enough to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary this year”, stated Kristen. Bob says, “The best part of life is still to come. I haven’t gotten there yet”.
