Edd Workman was born September 19, 1933 in Plainview, Texas. He has rodeoed, ranched and trained horses most of his life.
Edd attended Lubbock Christian College and Texas Tech. He competed in 5 events, bareback, saddle bronc, bull riding, calf roping and steer wrestling. Workman had accumulated over 500 buckles and 350 saddles. He was the All-Around Cowboy 3 times in the NIRA. 2 years he was the Champion saddle bronc rider. In 1964 Edd was the Champion bareback rider and calf roping in the Central Rodeo Association. In 1967 he was the All-Around Champion in the SRA.
In 1975 Workman got his RCA card and them in 1976 he set a record in the calf roping for the most money won at one rodeo, Houston. He placed 3rd in the RCA standing for the year in the calf roping including a win at the Cow Palace.
In ’78 he was the South Texas Champion Steer Tripper. Participating in six NRA in one year he won top honors 5 times. He trained 5 roping horses and two bull dogging horses that were named Horse of the Year in the RCA.
Edd rode bulls for 15 years, saddle broncs and bareback horses for 17 years and bull dogged for 25 years. Still roping calves, Edd and his wife Sheila live near Possum Kingdom Lake in North Central Texas. They have two children.
